June 2011
GOLF ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
2 AND 9 JUNE 2011
After a brief meeting on 2 June, GAC met on 9 June with the meeting called to order at 3:00 pm. Present were Dennis Igoe, Ann Miles, Tom Lewis, Paul Squeri, Bob Mazzei, Monica DeCicco, Steve Naples, BOD Liaison Bill McCrain, and Director of Golf Jeff Bebbino.
1. Pending RSF’s (budget concerns, resident home damage from errant golf ball, HCP flag and CPO issues) were discussed and assigned to relevant individuals for resolution.
2. Friends and Family Sundays are 80% full for June and one slot only left for July. Jeff pointed out the increased revenue available to us from these events.
3. Director of Golf Report:
A. Re: prior discussion of penalties for no-shows, Jeff stated that this was not a large issue and it would be better to write up the repeat offenders than to issue penalty points.
B. Chipping area is on hold due to budget constraints and will be re-explored in the fall.
C. More red and white stakes will be used to mark hazard and Out of Bounds (OOB) areas of course. Golf community needs reminder than owners’ yards are OOB and provisional balls should be played if in doubt about location of first ball.
D. Another staff member has been added to the Pro Shop to assist with general duties.
E. Suggestion of at least one gross winner per tournament since low HCP players have very little chance of winning. All agreed.
4. Any rule to limit smoking on the course is on hold due to more important issues facing the GAC.
5. Sprinkler system for course has multiple irrigation heads and control valves in disrepair. These are gradually being replaced/repaired.
6. New fee schedules discussed and will await Finance Committee budget process and projections to begin in late July. Current estimate from Finance Committee has golf course revenues down 43K this year. Jeff will discuss fee schedule suggestions with BCG corporate staff and they will be requested to come early for the next community golf meeting (29 June at 7 pm) to discuss their ideas and suggestions.
7. GAC agreed that a weekly communication from the Superintendent, via the Greens Committee, is desirable to keep membership informed about course conditions and rationale for decisions. Newly formed Greens Committee should either have a website or regularly contribute to the GAC website and should be added to the RSF so that member issues are properly directed there. Greens Committee should send a member to GAC meetings and a GAC member should be invited to Greens Committee meetings to provide continuity and agreement in decisions.
Meeting adjourned at 4:55 pm.
