December 2011
GOLF ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES
December 1, 2011
Meeting called to order at 3: 00 pm. Present were Dennis Igoe, Tom Lewis, Ann Miles, Paul Squeri, Steve Naples, Joe Jacangelo and Bill McCrain from the BOD, Al Regen from the Finance Committee, and Director of Golf Jeff Bebbino.
Report from Director of Golf:
1. Some issues with redemption of credit in the Pro Shop occurred and the membership should be informed that not everything requested can be ordered for them. E-mail will be sent to membership.
2. Practice Range will be improved with netting around the perimeter to facilitate ball retrieval by preventing loss into the woods. Cost for materials will be approximately $600. Will be done before ground freezes by staff after Jim Ritter explores possible need for permit.
3. New lease carts are in.
4. League play will begin in April with OWGA beginning first on alternate Thursdays with OMGA. 8:00 am shotguns are planned.
5. Jason Belay will be leaving at the end of the year. A Farewell cocktail hour is planned prior to the next Community Golf Meeting on December 13th.
6. In response to GAC members’ questions, tee positions have intentionally been left in the same place to spare the rest of the tee box and those areas of overuse will be resodded in the spring. Signage for Ground Under Repair and areas needing to be roped off will be increased in the spring. Members are reminded not to lift the tarps covering areas of the course as this defeats the purpose.
7. The irrigation system has been completely restored and is now functioning under computer control, saving many man hours. New fans should be operational by opening day.
General discussion among those present of the Holiday Fund and recipients, decisions regarding refunds of fees, and follow-up to comments from the last Community Golf Meeting with the announced changes for next year.
Discussion of interview process for applicants to GAC.
Meeting adjourned at 5:05 pm
